Craig DeLuz Secures Endorsement of Board of Equalization Member Ted Gaines
November 8, 2023

Sacramento, Calif. – Saying he’s a “proven conservative” who will put “victims ahead of criminals,” and “reign in out-of-control Washington spending,” Board of Equalization District 1 member Ted Gaines, the highest elected Republican in California, has endorsed Craig DeLuz in his bid to unseat Congressman Ami Bera for the 6th Congressional District.

“Congressman Bera is representative of the failed ‘Bidenomic’ policies that have done nothing but grow the federal debt, and increased inflation to unaffordable levels for most Californians,” Gaines said. “I consider Craig as a thoughtful and measured locally elected official and small business owner who will fight for the hard-working residents of the sixth congressional district.”

DeLuz is a small business owner and elected official with more than 30 years of experience in California politics. He was elected to Robla School District in 2005 where he has served as president for over 10 years on the board. During his time on the Robla School Board, he has made STEAM education a priority and led the charge to transform Robla campuses into state-of-the-art facilities that prepare students for the jobs of the future.

DeLuz has also served as a legislative staffer in the California State Assembly with an extensive history as a media professional, policy analyst, and grassroots activist in the Greater Sacramento region.

Before being elected to the Board of Equalization in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, Gaines served a member of the California State Senate (2011 to 2018) and prior to that was elected to the California State Assembly (2006-11) and the Placer County Board of Supervisors (2000-08).

The California Board of Equalization is the state’s agency charged with tax administration and fee collection for the state. Gaines’ District 1 on the Board of Equalization includes Sacramento’s 6th Congressional District.

“Mr. Gaines has a long political history in California, that includes supporting conservative principles that I admire,” DeLuz said of the endorsement. “This includes lowering taxes, putting victims of crime ahead of criminals, and reducing red tape and regulations that makes California the most expensive place to live and work in this county. I welcome his endorsement, support and counsel to defeat failed politician Ami Bera.”
